Are you looking to give to charity and don't know which charity to donate to or what charity should I donate to? Thousands ask themselves this question everyday. Are you perplexed about giving to charity? If so this message may help!
and of all that You give me, I will surely give a tenth to You"
Genesis 28:22
There's thousands of charities to give money to today, but how do you know which charity to give a donation to? How do you choose which charity to give to? Who really helps the poor? Which charity really go out on the streets to feed the hungry, visit the sick, and comfort those in prison?
Well, I can try to help answer that question here. God requires us to give charity (donation) and help others. He ordained giving! He gave Himself for us! He requires us to do the same thing in return. However, we cannot pay for sins-- only God can do that. But He does require us to give and help the needy.
God requires 10 percent of income because He wants the people He called to service to have all their necessitates. He also wants food, shelter, and basic care to be ministered to the needy.
We suppose to give to our church and ministries doing His service.
But the question is "who is doing His service?" The services of God is set forth in Matthew 25:35-40 The criteria you can use to determine which charity to give to is wrote here:
feeding the hungry, helping the needy, visiting and comforting the sick and suffering in hospitals, and sharing a comforting word with someone in prison.
These are the requirements by God when it comes to ministry. And these are the same requirements you should use to determine which charity to give to.
There's many great causes in the world today in which we should participate. But be careful, many false prophets will try to convince you to give 10% of our income quoting: "Malachi 3:8". This money goes to their business (church). They use God name as their multimillion dollar business. God will deal with them for their deceit.
But God don't want us to only give money. He requires 10% of our time! Can you volunteer 2.4 hours of your time a day to God?
Just giving to a charity and paying tithes doesn't make us right with God. He requires our time just as much as He requires us giving money.
Your local soup kitchen and homeless shelter are a great way to help the needy with your time or money. Another great place to give charity to is prison ministry.
Our prison ministry tries to fulfill the call of the Lord by providing basic necessities for men and women coming out of prison who have no place to turn for help. We also aid other local and foreign ministries with food and supplies as well as providing a Word of encouragement.
I highly recommend giving charity to the local people (community) first! By doing this we build a great foundation in God!
